Although the Watamu Branch was originally a part of the Mombasa Branch, Watamu has recently formed its own Branch. On June 17th 2006, the inaugural meeting for Watamu Branch was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Purves attended by 9 members (now 32!). Since then we have held monthly meetings with speakers on the Coral Gardens & Lagoon, Turtle Watch and Bee Keeping, and we have others on perfume, nutrition and alternative therapy to look forward to.
We had a most successful Christmas sale organised and manned by Elaine Nash, Elaine Watts and Ann Fernandes during which Ksh. 30,000/- was raised.
We then had the hot Xmas Lunch at which Salvatori superbly entertained us playing his clarinet. The food was organised by Elaine Nash and served by Barbara Darnborough during which we held a raffle and Bring & Buy sale, raising a further Ksh. 30,000/-.
We provided 2 goats and a sack of rice for the Goodwill Lunch organised by Chrysina Rhodes and have promised Ksh 20,000/- for equipment for Gedi Small Homes.
